Our maintenance facilities enjoy a reputation of quality service and are audited on a regular basis by BHP Aviation, Southern Cross Fertilisers, Zinifex, Allied Health and CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority).
Experience & Qualifications
West Wing Aviation (WWA) has extensive experience operating in the sometimes harsh conditions throughout North and West Queensland. The Owner and Managing Director Peter Collings has been flying throughout Queensland since 1987, he understands the unique challenges of the Western environment. Peter started out with 1 single engine aircraft with his original company Macair. He progressed through the ranks of aviation with the introduction of the piston engine light twin, through to the twin light turbine, the 19 seat heavy turbine and finally the 36 seat SAAB 340.
The company started with charter work flying wool and cattle buyers throughout Queensland and progressed through to major fly-in fly-out mining contracts shifting hundreds of personnel a week and major Government subsidised Regular Public Transport routes servicing several dozen Queensland ports. This experience has helped WWA to become one of the premier General Charter operators on the East Coast.
WWA maintain a full Safety Management Plan to ensure our operation is of the highest safety standard. Our aircraft are maintained to the highest standard required by most mining companies and CASA Regular Public Transport requirements. WWA employ a full-time airline trained Check & Training Captain who has implemented a rigorous training program for both pilots new to our ranks as well as ongoing training management on existing company crew.
WWA is the holder of a Regular Public Transport licence which requires CASA to carry out a higher level of surveillance on the operation and requires a higher standard of systems and training.
WWA is audited regularly by our major clients such as BHP Aviation, Southern Cross Fertilisers, Zinifex, RFDS & Allied Health.
